Picking up from last week…
What culminated in Germany was a ton of prayer and a desire to find the Lord’s direction for our future. When we returned home from the trip we began researching and analyzing every viable option. It was time to knock on some doors.
Let’s read our verse again…
Luke 11:9-10 “And I tell you, ask and it will be given to you;
seek, and you will find;
knock and it will be opened to you.
For everyone who asks receives,
and the one who seeks finds,
and to the one who knocks it will be opened.”
closed doors
Did you notice the door in our scripture starts off closed?
Why isn’t every door open? Why does it seem so hard to get to the right door? It feels vague. And frustrating.
There are times of waiting. There may be moments of uncertainty. Both things produce greater faith in the heart of a true believer. It is a season of refining our desires and character so they align with God’s will.
Our assurance? The Lord will respond.
faith in action
Knocking gets us off our knees and pushes us back from the computer. It’s time to act.
Hubs and I short-listed 5 opportunities that we wanted to check out in greater detail when we got home from Germany. We whittled it down to 2 after more research. Then we sent emails and made phone calls. Eventually we met face to face with prospects.
Doors were shut until we started knocking. One door never did open, the other did. We wouldn’t have known which choice to make unless we’d started knocking.
Faith in action is doing our part because we know God is doing his.
persistence please
Keep going. Do not get tired and give up.
Every door you knock on is an answer of some sort from the Lord. No, not yet, soon, yes. The evil one desperately wants you to abandon the search. He wants you to doubt the Lord is listening when you pray.
Do not be deceived.
The word of God is truth. When you ask, the Lord will answer. When you search he will show you the way. When you knock on doors he will open the right ones.
Closed doors may indicate it’s time to go in another direction or ask different questions. Or just settle into the waiting room of the Lord and be patient.
Knocking is a continuous action, not a once and done.
comfort while we wait
These verses are so powerful for the mindset of the believer.
He is lining up opportunities you could never have dreamt of. He is setting timelines in motion behind the scenes. He is getting all the pieces put together.
Do your part.
You will be tempted to give up. You will be tempted to doubt. You will be tempted to find your own way and plough through on your own because of your impatience.
Wait on the Lord. And while you wait have the courage to lift up your hand and keep knocking.
Ask…seek…knock…repeat
Blessings to you today!
Rhonda
