Three Things To Remember When You’re Hanging On By A Thread

rhondaschmidt.com

Blue-black clouds chewed up the sky. From my office window I saw a small spider clinging to it’s dragline blowing wildly in the wind. It looked so tiny against the backdrop of the storm, it’s situation so perilous in the rising wind.

Do you feel like that little spider sometimes? I sure do.

Here are 3 things I’d like you to remember when you’re struggling through a storm…

1. draglines are lifelines

A spider doesn’t have big muscles. It trusts the tiniest of threads, it’s silken dragline, anchored firmly and spun with purpose.

You and I have a very personal lifeline, our faith in Christ. We are anchored to a God who does not move.

“We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure.” Hebrews 6:19 (NIV) Stability and security. The assurance of safety through every storm.

Remember this: Your Savior is unshakable.

2. draglines give hope

Storms always break. And in the wake, everything is refreshed.

“Weeping may stay for the night, but rejoicing comes in the morning.” Psalm 30:5 (NIV) Hope always shows up even when a season of pain feels unending.

Our storms aren’t meaningless. There is fresh strength for each new gust of wind and a promise that every storm will eventually pass.

Remember this: There is hope for a new tomorrow.

3. draglines are dependable

Spiders don’t flail or panic, they simply hold on.

What a lesson for us. “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God…” Isaiah 41:10 (NIV)

No wild scrambling, no frenzied worry. Just a calm spirit grounded in the eternal truth that we can count on the Lord to guide us through the darkness by his power and strength.

Remember this: Simply hold on to Jesus.

When life howls around us with uncertainty it’s easy to feel like we’re hanging on by a thread. Let Jesus be your lifeline dear friend.

Praying for you,

rhonda
